TEEKS made an entrance with his 2017 debut EP ‘The Grapefruit Skies’. It was met with critical acclaim in New Zealand, setting the young Maori artist up for a global career. Over the coming years, he would evolve his craft and form a special bond with fans around the world. In 2019, he would take home his first NZ Music Award and attracted nominations for the prestigious APRA AMCOS Silver Scrolls Award and the Taite Music Prize. With multiple sold-out shows across Australia and New Zealand, including headliners at the Sydney Opera House and Auckland’s iconic Civic Theatre, TEEKS grew from strength to strength, cloaked head to toe in musical alchemy.
2021 was his biggest year yet. TEEKS released his critically acclaimed, Gold-certified album “Something To Feel” which debuted #1 on the NZ Chart. The album features Gold singles “Remember Me” and “First Time”. Plus the haunting debut single “Without You”. IN recognition of his debut album, TEEKS would take home 3x NZ Music Awards for “Something To Feel”, along with Best NZ Act at the MTV EMAs. This important career moment was followed by a sold-out nationwide album tour of New Zealand, which solidified TEEKS as one of the nation’s greats.
2022 saw TEEKS reach new heights as a global fanbase established around him, following viral success in South Africa (where single “First Time” is certified Gold) and its neighbouring countries, as well as Australia and the United Kingdom. Shortly before “Something To Feel” became certified Gold, he finished the year with a historic headline arena show at Tamaki Makaurau’s prestigious Spark Arena. Performing to a full house and receiving rave reviews, TEEKS shared with his captivated audience that this show is “a symbol of what’s to come… it’s just the beginning”.
