INTRODUCING A NEW ERA OF TEEKS WITH NEW SINGLE ‘Red Light’

Today award-winning Māori artist TEEKS (Ngāpuhi, Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Ranginui) shares new music for the first time in three years with the release of the seductive and self-expressive ‘Red Light’. A gift for fans, it explores the intersection of identity, sexual expression, and desire.

Te Karehana took to socials last week sharing the special announcement to devoted fans “Thank you for being patient. Thank you for your continued support. Thank you for giving me the time to figure out what I want to say. This is just the start of what’s to come but I couldn’t let this year finish without giving you something in return.”

The single follows a momentous few years including the release of his #1 platinum-selling and critically acclaimed debut album ‘Something To Feel’ followed by sold-out shows in Aotearoa and Australia and over 1 billion shortform video views. Possessing a once in a generation voice, TEEKS has given himself space to immerse himself in the creation process.

I entered this writing phase with my heart and mind wide open. With a playfulness and a curiosity to understand myself better, to pay attention to my body and my senses but also just to have fun and to fall back in love with the process of creating.”

Written and produced by TEEKS alongside producer Rory Noble, ‘Red Light’ signals the dawn of a new era for the singer and provides a first look of whats on the horizon in 2025.‘Red Light’ is accompanied by a visualiser shot in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) and was shot by TEEKS’ long-time creative collaborator Ray Edwards.
